This bodywork classic has long been out of print. Shi'Zen publications has re-printed this book for the benefit of all bodyworkers and their clients.

About the Author
"Don has indeed harmonized the secrets of all the different schools and knows how to teach the synthesis. I only wish his hands were big enough to fit around the whole planet - then tectonic stresses and fault lines would be smoothed and eased in a quiet way without earthquakes and eruptions."

Frederic Lehrman
Senior Tai Chi Instructor
Founder of Nomad University

About the Book
"If you are already a bodyworker and want to learn more you will definitely appreciate this book. It will save you years of study. If you are thinking about becoming a bodyworker I know you will be inspired by Don. If you are reading this to learn more about your body, you are wise."

From the foreword by Sondra Ray.

"This is a book for you who would understand and renegotiate the secret agreements made by your egos in the name of survival...a remembrance of the easy and graceful physicality that has always been your birthright but which may have temporarily misplaced...it's a reminder that for better or worse, you are already a bodyworker...so awaken once more to the healing power of touch."

AN EXTRACT FROM THE BOOK

Not only are bodies changeable, they represent change itself. They are more of a process than they are a thing. Bodies exist in a state of change...as a state of change. At any given moment their morphology is no more than the sum total of all the demands then being placed on them. (Even if many of today’s demands are only memories of yesterday’s misunderstandings.)

If you would change the body then change the demands on that body. Even the demands of your expectations! It’s imperative that this be understood, for we can not allow ourselves to accept artificial limitations upon our work.

As a step toward freedom then, examine now this dynamic structure of your own, this form that lives in a constant state of adaptation to a dynamic world.

Consider the following points:
This body that you are wearing today, just what does it say about you?
Does it present a message?
Is it a clear and unclouded message?
Does it match your intentions of how you would like to be perceived by the world?
Of what limitations does it speak?
Of what limitations does it try not to speak?
Does it move and behave as you would wish it to?
Does it moan and groan?
What would you most like to change about this structure......and how might you go about that?

Departure possibilities......
If you were to work on your own body, where might you begin the process?
The body harbors such a multitude of intriguing sights, each contesting for attention, each a potential embarcadero.
Of primary concern here is that now we are looking for secrets, and secrets thrive on illusion.

But they do leave footprints. Tracks that we can visualize in the physical structure of the body, as well as in its functioning, visualize in all the movements that pass through or around that structure.
